Mack to step down as Football Secretary in May 2019
Football secretary Jamie Mack will step down from his role at the end of the 2018/19 season.
Mack held the role for 9 seasons, beginning when the club reformed in 2010 as Merthyr Town FC. He told club chairman Jonathon Davies and manager Gavin Williams that he wishes to take a break from the role due to other commitments early this week and met with the club’s board following this.
The club will begin the process to replace him shortly and would like the successor to be confirmed before the end of the season, so they can shadow Jamie in final games of the season as part of the transition. Jamie will also support his successor over the summer in preparation for the new season to make the process as smooth as possible.
Mack said “This is not a decision I have taken lightly and have been thinking about this for the last 2 years, but the timing was never right. Now feels as good a time as any to step down with a new board in place taking the club forward. I’ve enjoyed the role and got a lot from it over the years, you see things in a different way. I’d like to thank the management teams of the club over the last 9 years, players, supporters, staff and the various board members who have helped during this time along with many others.”
“I’ll still be at games and happy to continue doing the social media bits and pieces I currently do, but it’s time for a change.”
Chairman Jonathon Davies added, “It is with great regret that the board accept Jamie’s decision to step down from the role as Club Secretary, Jamie has made the role his own during the last 9 years. The work he has done behind the scenes as a volunteer no less is beyond commendable, he’s been instrumental in the running of the first team and youth team, he will be greatly missed.”
