The Met Move Into Second Spot

Weekend Review - Premier South

There were 25 goals in the seven matches in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division South on Saturday.
With leaders Taunton Town inactive and Weymouth and Salisbury in Buildbase FA Trophy action, Metropolitan Police moved into the second spot, six points behind Taunton with two games in hand after beating an out of sorts Hendon side.

The Greens haven`t won in eight now after Jack Mazzone in the 9th minute, Max Blackmore in the 55th minute and Jonathan Hippolyte after 78 minutes sealed the Met`s win at Imber Court.

Fifth-placed Harrow Borough missed the opportunity to jump up to level on points with the Met after being beaten 4-1 at Holloways Park by Beaconsfield Town, who are now sixth.

Marvin Morgan gave the Rams a 13th-minute lead that a Luke Neville own goal cancelled out after 35 minutes.

But Bajram Pashaj restored the home side`s lead just before the break, and then Reece Yorke on 63 minutes and Morgan again 10 minutes from time secured the points for the hosts.

Merthyr Town missed the chance to put pressure on the top five when they were beaten 4-0 at The W+S Stadium by Wimborne Town.

It was a good day all-round for the Holmes` - Toby netted a hat-trick in the 24th, 42nd and 53rd minutes – Luke added the fourth in the 73rd minute, making it a great win for manager dad Matt!

Bottom-markers Staines Town lost again, 3-0 at the WebbsWood against Swindon Supermarine, who are now tenth.

But it wasn`t until the 72nd minute that Jerel Ifil made the breakthrough – and then three came at once – with Matt Williams on 75 and Stuart Fleetwood on 78 minutes killing off the Swans.

Chesham United are out of the bottom three, however, and have been replaced by the team they beat, Basingstoke Town.

Eoin Casey gave the Generals a 33rd minute lead at the Camrose, only for Sam Argent to level within 2 minutes.

Ben Wright then put `Stoke ahead right on half-time.

But Steve Brown on 56 minutes and Ronny Mfinda just past the hour-mark won it for the visitors.

The home side`s misery was compounded by the dismissal of Argent in the 67th minute.

Poole Town enjoyed a good 2-0 win at Ladysmead against Tiverton Town, courtesy of James Constable right on the break and Luke Roberts 10 minutes after it.

Hartley Wintney won 2-1 at Walton Casuals, with Mitch Parker giving them an early 5th-minute lead that Salhim Abubakar doubled on 65 minutes, rendering Dan Bennett`s reply 3 minutes later as just a consolation
