Foulston becomes a Martyr

Loan signing

Jay Foulston has today agreed terms with Merthyr Town to sign at Met Coaches Community Stadium on loan until the end of the season.

Jay has made two appearances for the Exiles so far this season, both in the CheckaTrade Trophy, keeping a clean sheet against Chelsea Under-23's as well as playing the full 90 minutes in our eventual penalty shoot-out loss to Cheltenham Town.

The 19-year-old central defender has made a total of five appearances internationally for Wales across under-17 and under-19 level so far in his career.

On completing the move, Jay said: "I am delighted to have joined Merthyr on loan and I can't wait to get started. Hopefully, I can help them push on for promotion and gain valuable experience whilst I am with the club."

Manager Gavin Williams said “I am delighted to sign Jay until the end of the season. Obviously, we need to strengthen the team following Macca’s injury, and I would like to thank Mike Flynn and the staff at Newport County for agreeing to the loan.”
