Wednesday's Evo-Stik South, East Review

8 months ago By Jack Moore

Hartley Wintney returned to fifth place in the Evo-Stik League South, East table after a 2-0 win against out-of-form Aylesbury United.

The Ducks came into the game on the back of a run of five games without a win, while the newcomers were keen to get back on track after back-to-back defeats in the league and BigFreeBet Cup.

Jake Baxter gave the visitors the lead after 35 minutes.

In awful conditions, the gale force winds making any sort of decent football virtually impossible, the Ducks were grateful to keeper Jack Sillitoe for keeping the scoreline 1-0 at the break as he made two or three fine saves.

The Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League champions finally made the points safe 14 minutes from time when they were awarded a penalty for handball with Dean Stow duly converted.
